WHAT TO EXPECT:
No matter the season, there are certain things to always pack when visiting the mountains:
- Lip Balm
- Sunscreen
- A Camera
- A hat – toque (beanie) in the winter and a hat with a brim in the summer months.
As temperatures fluctuate in all seasons it is the norm to dress in layers. In the winter ensure you have a good quality winter coat and in the spring and summer bring a raincoat. If you are planning on doing any hiking, good sturdy shoes that will provide a solid foothold or hiking boots are recommended.
Our bistro is currently under redevelopment, after we lost the building to a fire in 2021, but there are many local dining experiences just ten minutes away in Lake Louise.
The first thing to expect is a complete ‘digital detox!’ Baker Creek Mountain Resort does not have cellular (mobile) phone service (there is a payphone available for guests to use), and there are no televisions or telephones in any of our cabins or lodge suites. We offer our guests complimentary Wi-Fi, however, signal is received via satellite and the best in industry technology is still hindered by very slow download speeds, weather and other events. Put your devices away, and come experience connection on a different level.
Between the change rooms in our fitness facility, we have both a steam room and sauna for you to enjoy after a long day adventuring.
We have three communal propane barbecues around the property. If you require a little more privacy we can also provide individual units for $25 per night.
One of the best equipped hotel fitness facilities you’ll ever find! While we strongly encourage a relax and rewind retreat style getaway, a variety of cardio, free weight and machines are available to help you keep in top form.
Guest laundry facilities are available in the fitness facility.
In the summer, sign out a hybrid road bike and cruise the parkway in fashion. Head down to Johnston Canyon, west to Lake Louise, or Morant’s Curve. When the seasons change, and snow and ice prevail, fat bikes are available for all ages.
Weather dependent, just before Christmas each year, we are able to have our skating rink completed. Equipped with skates, hockey nets, sticks, and a fire pit with seating, it’s a true Canadian winter experience.
Our team maintains the Bow Valley Parkway trail from Baker Creek to Castle lookout. If you’ve never skied it before, it offers stunning views above the Bow River towards the south ranges and primarily runs along the original Trans Canada Highway.
While Lake Louise and the surrounding areas, offer world-class snowshoeing, there are several local family-friendly trails that leave right from the property. For the more adventurous, a short ten minutes East is the Castle Lookout trails, which offers 180 degree panoramic views of the valley and is the site of an early Fire Lookout station.
All of our cabins feature river rock wood burning fireplaces and stoves and the lodge buildings showcase a river rock gas fireplace. Additional firewood is available outside your cabin and/or upon request.
We love animals! Our resort is fully pet friendly and a fantastic place to bring your furry animal family members!
$40 for the first pet, $20 for the second, per night. Maximum of 2 pets. Call us today to book or to get more information. Please be aware that we require all pets to be on a leash as the resort is located in a bear habitat. Pets, especially dogs can be an attractant to bears and other wildlife. No animals are to be left unattended in any guest rooms.
Most of our cabins (with the exception of Two Bedroom Loft with Ladder) and some lodge suites that have kitchenettes are fully equipped with dishes, pots and pans and everything you will need. Please ensure that if you bring a cooler of food with you, nothing is left outdoors as you are in bear country! And remember, please DO NOT FEED ANY WILD ANIMALS!
